CANNABIS TOURISM 101: Where to go for your next bud-friendly vacation?

cannabis tourism - streettrotter

Long gone are the days of bed and breakfast, with the new addition of Canada’s “BUD AND BREAKFAST” the standards of vacations have been set way too ‘high’ (no pun intended). With the legalization of recreational marijuana in many parts of the world, and many on the verge of it, the new GREEN business is booming and coming up with a whole bunch of creative ideas, people are now planning BUD FRIENDLY or CANNA FRIENDLY VACATIONS.

Cannabis tourism — also known as ‘canna-tourism’ — is on the tracks of becoming a multi-billion-dollar industry, featuring everything from bud friendly accommodations, CBD-infused massages, weed yoga to pot-themed museums and outdoor zip lines. We’ve seen “puff and paint” classes and many more creatively crafted Canna friendly activities.

So you walk into a place, and instead of a bunch of alcohol and whiskey bottles, there are jars of cannabis and smoking paraphernalia. Then you walk into the next room and there’s a cannabis yoga class going on; there’s an art room set up. Cannabis tourism is huge, and people are looking at it with ‘high’ expectations (pun totally intended).

Meanwhile in other places, “wine and weed” tours are becoming increasingly more popular along with party buses, with the driver sealed off from smoking passengers, tour wineries and dispensaries, allowing tourists to sample the various products.

BUD FRIENDLY ACCOMMODATIONS

Many hotels ad AirBnB’s around the world now have a new facility added to their list, that of being ‘420 friendly’ or ‘bud friendly’, where most of the rooms have balconies where smoking up or vaping is allowed. Many come furnished with bongs, vaporizer rigs, or infused welcome mints, so you don’t even have to travel with your paraphernalia. Some even provide guidance to buy the herb with added coupons for discounts.Buying on the street can be problematic but it can also be the best deal in town, especially in developing countries like Colombia and Mexico where personal possession is decriminalized but there are no dispensaries or formal clubs. Your best insurance is to fully research the particular laws in the places you are visiting before engaging in any street transactions, as prohibitions and punishments vary greatly by location and quantity of possession.
