Grimes Glen

Located two hour east of Buffalo by road, the village of Naples is home to the beautiful Grimes Glen Falls. Grimes Glen is a long deep gorge that makes its way into the village of Naples, eventually joining with the Naples Creek that drains into the Canandaigua Lake, one of the famous five Finger Lakes of NY. The highlight of this trip is a barefoot trek through the water to get to the falls. We absolutely loved the feel of the warm summer waters running through our feet as we made our way to see two waterfalls along the way.

Thousand Islands, NY

If serene waters, castles, knights, trap doors, secret passageways, exquisite royal décor, and a touch of adventure sound exciting to you, then you must visit the enchanting Thousand Islands of New York. 1,800 Islands, spanning across the US and Canadian borders, lodged on the beautiful St. Lawrence River, make for a great royal retreat. If you take Uncle Sam Boat tours from the Alexandria Bay area to begin your exploration, they offer many different packages, including the Singer Castle Tour – Gold Route. This tour lets you explore the cryptic Singer Castle on Dark Island and the Boldt Castle on Heart Island, which is a must see for us hopeless romantics. Catch a hot air balloon ride to get an aerial vista of the islands. End your trip with a relaxing visit to a local Alpacca farm to spend some time with adorable and fuzzy Alpaccas.

Finger Lakes, NY – Lake Seneca Region

Watkins Glen

Watkins Glen State Park is the most famous park among the Finger Lakes parks, with its positive reputation of leaving its visitors spell bound! Located in the village of Watkins Glen in the Lake Seneca region, this park is a nature lover’s paradise. To get the best views of the beautiful gorges and waterfalls, we suggest the Gorge Trail which is an easy hike on a paved staircase trail. We recommend spending a couple of hours on this trail to take in all the beauty and to do justice to your time here. Rent a cozy cabin at Seneca Lodge for a true rustic experience.

 Robert Treman Park

Known for its beautiful waterfall and supervised swimming area at the base of the waterfall that is easily accessible to the public, this park is another favorite in the Lake Seneca region. Due to a milder winter last year, the water levels were quite low when we visited. Over the years, we have seen this waterfall transform with the dynamic forces of nature.
