Nature has been extremely generous with the Maldives. The country is made up of 26 atolls and 1,200 islands, which entices millions of tourists every year. The enchanting blue waters, magnificent reefs, exotic islands, shiny beaches, and different types of water sports rein in visitors from across the globe. Many refer to it as a mini heaven on earth.
While this island country is famous for its water sports, visiting Maldives between December and April is highly recommended by Maldives tourism. Whether you are planning a family vacation, or instead an exotic honeymoon – here are five places that all Maldives holiday packages must include:
-
Male
One of the most popular tourist destinations is North Male Atoll, which is located on the southern edge of Kaafu Male. Historically it was known as Mahal because it was the abode of royal dynasties. The weather here is tropical with rains that cover most months during the year. You know youâre selecting from the right bunch of Maldives tour packages when you see this destination on the list. Some of the places you must visit here include the National Museum, Underwater scooters, Grand Friday Mosque, and Tsunami Monument. Donât forget to try snorkeling and scuba diving while youâre here.
-
Sun Island
Also known as Nalaguraidhoo Island, this island lies in South Ari Atoll. This destination is a favorite and makes its way to most Maldives tour packages that have been customized by beach lovers. In addition to the beautiful beaches, you may enjoy lush greenery and tropical flowers in this pristine destination. This island is frequented for activities like diving, snorkeling, and windsurfing. However, if youâre looking for something more mellow and soothing, try the relaxing spa and sauna facilities offered here.
-
Banana Reef
Situated in North Male Atoll, Banana Reef is among the best diving locations in the world. This was the first Maldives tourism diving spot to receive a license for diving and training. It is shaped like a banana and is a choc-a-bloc offering of amazing corals, awe-inspiring marine life, splendid cliffs, and rustic caves. You may enjoy several underwater activities like snorkeling and scuba diving or try jet skiing on the pristine waters. Visit places like Manta point, Maldive Victory, Biyadhoo Island, Alimatha Island, and Hulhumale.
-
HP Reef
HP Reef boasts of exotic corals and colorful marine life and is located in North Male Atoll. This location has several types of colorful fishes and multi-hued corals that make for incredible postcards. Pictures at the overhangs and caves promise to astound you. The exotic marine life is a canât-miss if you want to enjoy photography during your Maldives holidays.

Fihalhohi Island
This island is located at South Kaafu Atoll and is among the most impressive and attractive tourist destinations in the Maldives. The entire island is surrounded by coconut palm trees, clear waters, and pristine beaches. If you are looking for Maldives honeymoon packages, make sure this region is included in the one you choose. I haven’t visited the Maldives but the richness of the underwater environment there makes me want to visit them as soon as possible! I would love to go snorkeling and see the beautiful corals.
I would super love to go to Maldives. I always felt like it was a honeymoon place but its so pretty.
I haven’t been to the Maldives yet, but all of these locations look amazing. I think Sun Island would be at the top of my list, with a little beach time and spa time.
The Maldives have been on my radar for so long. Lovely to hear about all the choices. I’m an avid diver and those atolls sound so promising!
The Maldives is on my dream list! Thanks for the comprehensive list. All the places look fantastic, seems hard to pick just one!
Nice Article!! Thanks for that.
Great post. We visited in March and it was incredible. Just paradise. The snorkelling was some of the best we’ve done so far. We did not visit the HP reef though so we’ll need to do that next time since we love snorkelling
Wow! The more I read about the Maldives, the more I realise how much there is to see and do. I’ve always thought of it as mainly diving/surfing, or a honeymoon destination – now I’m starting to see there’s a lot more to it than that! And the closer I get to seriously thinking about booking a package!
Visited HP Reef years ago. I still have dreams about it. Definitely goes into the top 5 vacations of my life. A must-visit for adventure lovers.
