NYLO Hotels: A weekend in an Urban Fairytale

Let me start this like a fairy tale. Once upon a time, there was a huge yellow door, which led to into an urban mansion with lots of rooms. Each room had rustic ceilings, heavy metal grey walls, silver ducts, and a single brick wall with a huge glass window behind the bed. But even within all its rustiness, there were pure white sheets with satin hems and finely quilted duvets that laid out luxury for the visitors who snuggled in those dreamy beds. The bathrooms were carved out of glass, partly transparent, half-open, and exotic to their best. The first morning light fell everyday on the river behind the mansion, and reflected back like shimmers on the windows, overlooking a view so serene…

And then there was the grand hall, that reminded me of the castle of the Beauty and the Beast. It shouted of taste and finesse in all its decor, but yet there was something profoundly intimidating about this place. Was it the chandeliers that left me hooked or was it the mirror wall that trapped me into the opulence it reflected. I knew it was no real fairy tale, but still for a weekend, it felt like one, at the NYLO Hotel in Providence, Warwick.

NYLO HOTEL - STREETTROTTER

For this year’s Christmas weekend, we decided to take a short road trip to Rhode Island, from Boston. A friend of ours highly recommended NYLO, and Expedia had some great rates to offer. Instantly, we took up the deal, and went ahead to pack and hit the road. Reaching Warwick, and right after checking-in into the hotel, we knew this one would end up in a stay to remember.

The rooms had no hidden nasty surprises, and looked exactly the way the hotel promoted them, and I would say, even better. We opted for a room with a river view for a decent offer of $113 per night, and the ambience was completely worthy of its cost. The view from the window overlooking the river was the main highlight of the room, and I cannot stop imagining how beautiful the sight would be during the fall and the white winters.

The bed sheets were sparkling white and soft, while the lights were dim and romantic. Considering that Mr. husband is a shower lover, I was sure he found his paradise the moment he entered the open shower area. The shower head was big and wide, just like most men love it, and the toiletries were well-selected too. But me being the coffee lover I am, the Keurig coffee machine was all that I needed to be satisfied, along with the 24 hour free wi-fi.

The NYLO Restaurant and Bar, on the ground floor, was the spotlight. With a decor so skillfully thought of, it sure makes you spend a great evening hanging out at this lounge, drinking, dining and playing some billiards with your friends. With options of a nicely laid out menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, we particularly enjoyed our first evening at the bar, tasting some great cocktails, mixes and beers.

More spaces for leisure: The main reception hall also offers a cozy and informal seating area, with a wall of book exchange, an extra computer to work on, and a chess board to spend some casual fun time outside your bedroom. The second floor has a 24 hour gym, yet another highlight for the fitness freaks.

Location: Apart from the Warwick location, NYLO hotels are also located in New York, Dallas and Irving. Being both a family and business hotel, there are also spacious meeting rooms within the properties, and a beautiful outdoor seating dock by the river, at the Warwick location. To find the directions to your NYLO destination, referring to these MAPS could be useful.

On a parting note, I am not a picky traveller when it comes to hotels, but I surely can recognize an outstanding one, the moment I enter one. And NYLO is worth a stay, if even you specially have to plan a trip around it! Happy Holidays everyone!

Looks like a great hotel. Nice location too. I like places that are minimal fuss and quite light. A good view always helps especially if I’m writing. Great photos
