SAVING THE ASIAN ELEPHANT IN ‘LONDON’ – “THE ELEPHANT PARADE”

Everyday we hear a lot of things happening around the world that make it to history, a music event, a war, a play, a public scandal, a royal wedding, Olympics world cup and the list goes on and on…! But have any of you had that super exciting feeling, a different kind of adrenaline rush that flows through your body, when you happen to witness history? Well, I have had that moment, and trust me capturing it in your camera and all the more, living it Live, is worth an experience…

So being in London in 2009 – 2010, right when the concept of ‘Elephant Parade’ was at its peak, made me happy, jumpy and honestly very curious. Spotting those huge fiber glass installations of almost real size elephants while walking around the streets of London, one day or the another, made me both go ”click and also ask ‘What is all this about’?

Investigating like a layman to my surprise each elephant had a unique graffiti on it, a different design that signified a different story done by a different artist – all in the spirit of ‘Saving the Asian Elephant’. Meant to spread a social message in an unique and a creative way, not only you could see it, but you could even buy it, and own it, with the money that is later raised for charity.

Spotting these lovely pieces of art, even though I could never afford buying one of my own, you can easily own a miniature of it from the online shops, and more, as its not only the Elephant going all parading in London, but also cows in the US, pigs and lions in Bath, teddy bears in Zurich, and so on. And yes I do have my own miniature of the ‘Cow parade’…!

Well the first 10 to 15 mins are most crucial when you force yourself to sit and write. I guess the trick is to write exactly when you have it all sorted in your head, and it is naturally coming out there. once you have the starting in place, trust me rest comes following by!
