MARSALA – A grounded statement for FALL 2015

Fashion Pundits call it Marsala, I call it simply ‘a very earth shade of wine’. Declared by Pantone as the color of 2015, there is no doubt that it is a rather charming hue, a favorite of both men and women since time immemorial. After its appearance as a royal evening wear color, and then in the form of jewel tones last couple of seasons, it now time for its red-brown roots to emerge out of the ground. Popping up popularly on both menswear and womenswear Fall 2015 runways, the designers have seemed to have taken a firm liking for it too, along with other industries such as beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.

While on one hand the men’s collections had the color well combined with complementing shades of blue, olive-green, grey, charcoal and golden yellows; on the other hand the womenswear catwalks saw the tone mostly in solids, top to bottom, playing with a variety of textures. Banking upon the richness of the color, the season seems to hold a refined affluence to it, adding a tasteful flavor to the upcoming fall fashion.
