5 Must watch Movies – That will compel you to Travel

A true traveler in one who knows only two ways of living life – one, when he/she is traveling, and the other, seeking travel inspiration – all the time not traveling. For the last one month, I am living like the latter.  Taking a break from the travel bug inside me, I have been hibernating in the Boston winter, having a movie marathon indoors. Evidently, I have been looking for all the movies I missed in the recent past, full of wanderlust! Sharing a bit of my inspiration, here comes the first list of Travel blockbusters, for the ones who are looking for a reason to breakout from the routine and go out into the wild…

#1. WILD

THE PLOT: Driven to the edge by the loss of her beloved mother (Laura Dern), the dissolution of her marriage and a headlong dive into self-destructive behavior, Cheryl Strayed (Reese Witherspoon) makes a decision to halt her downward spiral and put her life back together again. With no outdoors experience, a heavy backpack and little else to go on but her own will, Cheryl sets out alone to hike the Pacific Crest Trail – one of the country’s longest and toughest through-trails.

 #3. INTO THE WILD

THE PLOT: Freshly graduated from college with a promising future ahead, 22 year-old Christopher McCandless instead walked out of his privileged life and into the wild in search of adventure. What happened to him on the way transformed this young wanderer into an enduring symbol for countless people. His quest took him from the wheat fields of South Dakota to a renegade trip down the Colorado River to the non-conformists’ refuge of Slab City, California, and beyond. Along the way, he encountered a series of colorful characters at the very edges of American society who shaped his understanding of life and whose lives he, in turn, changed. In the end, he tested himself by heading alone into the wilds of the great North, where everything he had seen and learned and felt came to a head in ways he never could have expected.

  1. Adventuring The Great Wide Somewhere says:

Awesome list – Wild has been on my list for a while. I’ve never heard of Queen but will definitely have to check it out! Plus I’m dying to know what that thought bubble means in the last photo!

    1. Hey! Thanks. Wild is one of the most inspiring movies I have seen recently. Mostly because its very REAL, you can connect to it. And queen is a bollywood movie, that is indeed my fav. First time we have had a women centric movie in which the girl actually goes out to travel solo. Its quite a story, so must watch!

Also, the last bubble means – “I taught such a great lesson to those thieves, that they will never ever get into a rift with delhi-ites. 😉 (And I am a typical delhi-ite!) Lol.
